There are people who have ideas and dreams that are so clear in their minds that they want to go all out and have it, then boom, mother says no, father says not yet.
Sometimes they tell you, you can’t do this, nobody has ever done it in our family, or you can’t do this, it’s the less taken road.
So, what do you do when your friends and family members are against you chasing your dream?
Imagine if Bill Gates’ parents and friends have convinced him to drop his dream and go to school instead, the world probably won’t be where it is right now.
Here are three things to do when the closest people to you are trying to talk you out of your dream.
1. Believe in yourself.
Believe you can do it, make sure your dream is so clear that when you wake up in the morning that’s what comes to your mind.
2. Try to make them understand.
Trying to make them understand what your dream is about is a great way to have them on your side. They may be so ancient in their thinking that they may not understand this opportunity that you have, so, try talking them over. Most times though, they won’t budge, so if they do, good for you and if they don’t, move to the next step.
3. Ignore them
This has happened to me before so I’m talking from experience, then, I wanted to start a business but my parents want me to go to school, after much persuasion, they still refused to see things the way I was seeing it, so I ignored them, pretended as if I was on their side and continued doing my thing, trying to start my business and it worked.
Although I made a lot of mistakes on the way, I started getting it right when I started going for business seminars, reading business books and got a mentor and that is why I’m now using my time to help other people.
To get my first business book, THE WEALTH TRIANGLE: How to get rich, have fun and retire early to do the important things in life, for free, mail me on firstname.lastname@example.org.
